Brand Identity
The Brief
The Deaf & Hearing Ensemble approached us to create an identity for their theatre collective of deaf and hard-of-hearing members.
The Work
We created a sleek and contemporary typographic brand mark, with a focus on the ampersand being used at a tilt, symbolic of the inside of an ear.
The brand mark was created in solid and outlined versions – with the intention to always overlay the brand mark over the mouth or hands – which are vital communication tools for people with deaf and hearing loss.
The Outcome
The outcome is a bold, dynamic and relevant brand mark for the theatre group, immediately portraying the alternative and necessary nature of their work.
“The response to our new identity has been fantastic, it is so simple but completely relevant for us, and everyone immediately gets that the ampersand is an ear.” – Jen (The Deaf & Hearing Ensemble)
