10 Invaluable Free Tools For Startups

Free Tools For Startups

At Greatergood we are lucky to work with a wide range of entrepreneurs who are all at different stages of their businesses ventures. One regular thing we see in our startup clients is a lack of time and the need for streamlining processes, making working faster and more productive at every angle.

Here we’ve collected a few of our favourite tools and resources, invaluable for any startup.

  1. Google Suite

Your Gmail, Docs, Drive and Calendar (and more) can all sync together and create a seamless work flow across your machines and devices. Getting to grips with these tools as soon as possible will allow you to collaborate on projects in real time with multiple coworkers. Google apps like Gmail have a huge range of add-ons also, each with their own unique advantages which you’ll be hard pressed to find in your standard desktop email clients.

  2. Google Analytics

It can seem a little daunting at first – however well worth investing some time in. Google Analytics is one of the most comprehensive analytic apps on the market, integrating with your websites and working in harmony with the rest of the Google range.

  3. Mailchimp

A key aspect of any marketing plan is a well thought out email campaign, create an account with Mailchimp and send to up to 2000 subscribers free of charge.

  4. Buffer

One of the best platforms available for scheduling your social media posts across multiple accounts. Remains free for up to 3 social media channels.

  5. Trello

Trello is one of the best, if not the best ‘to-do’ type apps available, and still remains free. ‘Cards’ and tasks can be made with deadlines, users and more so everyone is in the loop on any aspect of a project at all times – and the iPhone app works like a charm too.

  6. Bitly

Bitly is a quick and easy URL shortener perfect for posting to social – it also includes user statistics so you can see how many people are clicking and sharing your links once they’ve left your profiles.

  7. Slack
Think of Slack as your work appropriate instant messaging. Save time and hassle by asking quick questions over Slack rather than clogging your inbox. Create different chats or ‘channels’ using appropriate hashtags #packagingdesign #rebranding #christmasparty and chat with key staff members all at the same time.
  8. SurveyMonkey

An invaluable tool for gathering your initial market research, and monitoring customer feedback further down the line. SurveyMonkey allows you to quickly and easily build basic and complex data capture surveys.

  9. Unsplash

Any entrepreneur knows the pain of sourcing stock photography, and having to pay a premium for mediocre and often cliched stock imagery. Unsplash is a free commercial use stock collection with over 100,000 uploaders. Not only are all the images high resolution and free to download, they are shot by professional photographers who are shooting for passion over profit – thus the work speaks for itself.
